Despite the scorching heat, US coal burn for power generation continues to flame out, down 23.7% YTD

Coal's split of the thermal stack is 29% through yesterday, down from 39% through the same period two years ago

Despite high power demand and diminished coal generation, natural gas generation didn't start too far outside the five-year range pointing to the growth of other sources ie renewable
